Flowchart 1: Notice of Nonreappointment Issued at the Departmental Level
1. The Department decides to recommend Notice of Nonreappointment
2. The Department sends a Letter of Notification to the faculty member with copies to the next administrative levels
- If the faculty member does not request reconsideration, the department sends a notification letter to the Dean with a copy to the faculty. Proceed to Flowchart 1: Step 3.
- If the faculty member requests reconsideration in writing to the department, the department reviews the request using the original or specially constituted committee.
- If the original decision is affirmed, the department sends a notification letter to the Dean with a copy to the faculty member. Proceed to Flowchart 1: Step 3.
- If the original decision is reversed:
- The department sends a notification letter to the Dean with a copy to the faculty member.
- The department prepares a positive recommendation.
3. The Dean reviews the procedures.
- If the Dean finds the procedures adequate:
- The Dean informs the Provost.
- The Provost sends letter to faculty member with copies to all appropriate administrative levels.
- The Board of Trustees sends the faculty member the Notice of Nonreappointment and issues a Terminal Contract.
- If the Dean finds the procedures inadequate:
- The Dean returns the case to the department for further review.
- Case dropped or process re-entered at appropriate stage.
Flowchart 2: Notice of Nonreappointment Issued at the School Level (Within a College)
1. The School decides to recommend Notice of Nonreappointment
2. The School Director sends a Letter of Notification to the faculty member with copies to all appropriate administration levels
- If the faculty member does not request reconsideration, the School sends a notification letter to the Dean with a copy to the faculty member and their home department. Proceed to Flowchart 2: Step 3.
- If the faculty member requests reconsideration in writing to the School, the School reviews the request using the original or specially constituted committee.
- If the original decision is affirmed, the School sends a notification letter to the Dean with a copy to the faculty member and their home department. Proceed to Flowchart 2: Step 3.
- If the original decision is reversed:
- The School sends a notification letter to the Dean with a copy to the faculty member and their home department.

2. The Dean of the School sends a Letter of Notification to the faculty member with copies to all appropriate administration levels
- If the faculty member does not request reconsideration, the School sends a notification letter to the Provost and Vice Chancellor with a copy to the faculty member. Proceed to Flowchart 3: Step 3.
- If the faculty member requests reconsideration in writing to the School, the Dean reviews the request using the original or specially constituted committee.
- If the original decision is affirmed, the Dean sends a notification letter to the Provost and Vice Chancellor with a copy to the faculty member. Proceed to Flowchart 3: Step 3.
- If the original decision is reversed:
- The Dean sends a notification letter to the Provost and Vice Chancellor with a copy to the faculty member.
- The Dean prepares a positive recommendation.
3. The Provost and Vice Chancellor review the procedures.
- If the Provost and Vice Chancellor find the procedures adequate:
- The Provost informs the Chancellor.

- If the Provost and Vice Chancellor find the procedures inadequate:

Flowchart 4: Notice of Nonreappointment Issued at the College Level
1. The Dean decides to recommend Notice of Nonreappointment
2. The Dean of the College sends a Letter of Notification to the faculty member with copies to all appropriate administration levels
- If the faculty member does not request reconsideration, the College sends a notification letter to the Provost and Vice Chancellor with a copy to the faculty member and their home department. Proceed to Flowchart 4: Step 3.
- If the faculty member requests reconsideration in writing to the College, the Dean reviews the request using the original or specially constituted committee.
- If the original decision is affirmed, the Dean sends a notification letter to the Provost and Vice Chancellor with a copy to the faculty member and their home department. Proceed to Flowchart 4: Step 3.
- If the original decision is reversed:
- The Dean sends a notification letter to the Provost and Vice Chancellor with a copy to the faculty member and their home department.

3. The Provost and Vice Chancellor review the procedures.
- If the Provost and Vice Chancellor find the procedures adequate:

Flowchart 5: Notice of Nonreappointment Issued at the Campus Level
1. The Campus Committee on Promotion and Tenure (P&T) decides to recommend Notice of Nonreappointment
2. The Office of the Provost sends a Letter of Notification to the faculty member with copies to all appropriate administration levels
- If the faculty member does not request reconsideration, the Provost informs the Chancellor and requests procedural review. Proceed to Flowchart 5: Step 3.
- If the faculty member requests reconsideration in writing to the Office of the Provost, the Provost reviews the request using a specially constituted committee.
- If the original decision is affirmed, proceed to Flowchart 5: Step 3.
- If the original decision is reversed, the Provost prepares a positive recommendation.
3. The Chancellor reviews the procedures.
- If the Chancellor finds the procedures adequate:
- The Chancellor sends letter to faculty member with copies to all appropriate administrative levels.
- The Board of Trustees sends the faculty member the Notice of Nonreappointment and issues a Terminal Contract.
- If the Chancellor finds the procedures inadequate:
- The Chancellor returns the case to the P&T Committee for further review.
- Case dropped or process re-entered at appropriate stage.
