As Senior Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, Aimee Heeter partners with the Chancellor and Provost to guide the university’s financial strategy with a focus on budget, finance, planning, resource allocation, and operations. She leads the campus budget office with the aim of fostering academic excellence in research, teaching, and outreach to ensure a world-class experience for undergraduate and graduate students.
Prior to joining Illinois in August 2025, Dr. Heeter served Indiana University for 20+ years. Most recently she served as Vice Provost for Finance and Administration at Indiana University, where she was responsible for the $2 billion budget for IU Bloomington. This included oversight of campus financial leaders and a network of finance colleagues across the Bloomington campus. Additionally, she provided leadership and operational guidance for Campus Auxiliaries, a group that keeps campus operations running smoothly through transportation, housing facilities, dining and hospitality, logistics services, and childcare. In addition, Dr. Heeter has collaborated with other institutions on fiscal strategies and budget model development across the nation and world.
Previous roles at IU included Associate Vice Provost for Finance and Budget and Assistant Vice President for Budget.
Dr. Heeter holds a B.A. in journalism, an M.S in education, and a doctorate in higher education finance, all from Indiana University.
