Jane Baumgartner assists the Acting Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning, and Executive Associate Provost for Budget and Resource Planning, Vicky Gress. Her responsibilities include calendar management and processing of information received via correspondence, reports, email, and telephone. She serves as a liaison for the Acting Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning with academic and administrative units across campus. She also provides support for the Administrative Budget Committee, Budget Officers Council, and Campus Budget Reform Committee.
Theresa Beckett directs the daily operations of the Office of the Provost, manages the support team, provides overall coordination of the Provost’s activities, and supports the Council of Deans. She also serves as the liaison to the Provost’s direct reports, units across campus, and external constituents.
As Executive Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, William Bernhard provides leadership in the areas of academic and faculty affairs. His portfolio includes faculty development, the Provost Fellows program, human resources, academic awards, and assessment.
As the Associate Director for Capital Planning, Brian Bundren contributes to creating a culture of space stewardship on campus that aligns with the strategic space planning goals. This includes reducing leased space and improving utilization to compliment the campus’s sustainability goals, including space reduction and no net increase.
Andreas C. Cangellaris is the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost and M.E. Van Valkenburg Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As the chief academic officer, Dr. Cangellaris oversees the campus’ academic programs, policies, and priorities, which are designed to ensure the quality of the educational experience for students and to sustain an environment that encourages and supports academic excellence through diversity, inclusion, and free inquiry, debate, and speech. In this role, he works closely with the chancellor, the other vice chancellors, the deans of academic colleges and other units, academic staff, the Senate of the Illinois campus, and various committees in setting overall academic priorities for the campus.
Jennifer Carleton assists the Associate Provost for Faculty Development, Amy Santos, and the Associate Provost for Faculty Employee Relations, Sharon Reynolds. Her responsibilities include calendar management and processing Hire Touch approvals, faculty requests such as Emeritus/Emerita status, tenure rollback, leaves of absence, and sabbatical applications.
Xiaobei Chen is the Director of Reporting and Data Analysis. She provides comprehensive data to support the budget and financial analysis functions of the Office of the Vice Provost/Associate Chancellor for Budget and Resource Planning and is responsible for the management and execution of a wide variety of operational tasks and analyses to inform institutional decision-making, policy-making, and strategic planning.
Jennifer Dalton is an Account Technician II in the Office of the Provost Shared Business Service area. Her primary responsibilities include assisting with the day-to-day transactions associated with P-Card, TEM/T-Card, Purchase Orders, and Equipment Management.
Assistant Provost and Director of the Division of Management Information (DMI) Amy Edwards leads the team that provides data and information that allows administrative leaders to make thoughtful and data-driven decisions. She is responsible for managing DMI with the goal of assisting campus administrators, faculty, and staff in obtaining timely, accurate, and appropriate information from the university's administrative databases.
Linell Edwards is a Coordinator of Assessment and Evaluation and is involved in the continuing efforts to build on the student learning outcomes assessment program.
Courtney Gant is the Director of Chancellor/Provost Shared Business Services. She oversees the operational and fiscal management of the Shared Business Services. She is the college-level budget contact for offices of the Chancellor, the Provost, and the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Operations (VCAO), including smaller units that report up within the Chancellor, Provost and VCAO college organizational structures. In addition, she manages the Chancellor commitments and initiative funding and records commitments and manages transfers in the Provost Commitment System.
Barbara Geissler's work focuses on creating and implementing a comprehensive educational initiative which supports and enhances the knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities of those charged with budgeting, accounting, and financial planning for campus units.
As Interim CIO, Scott Genung and his group provide the technological innovations, infrastructure, security, support and training to ensure that faculty, students and staff can focus on learning, discovery and engagement.
Jenny Gibson is the college-level budget contact for the offices of the Chancellor and the Provost, including smaller units that report up, within the Chancellor and Provost college organization structure. She also records and processes transfers in the Provost Commitment System, works with Facilities and Services on its quarterly billing, and manages the leasehold Banner organization code.
Gennifer Gilbert is the Associate Director of Special Projects and Events. She manages the campus-level events hosted by the Office of the Provost and liaises with units across campus to ensure the success of these events. She is also responsible for a variety of special projects.
Vicky Gress is the Acting Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning. In her Interim role, Ms. Gress provides strategic budget planning and allocation advice to the Chancellor and Provost, guidance to the university in areas related to budget, finance, planning and resource allocation, leadership and management of the campus budget office, and serves as campus chief financial officer. She also holds the role of Executive Associate Provost for Budget and Resource Planning.
Jamie Hackett is the Assistant Provost and Director of Budget Operations. She directs and coordinates the detailed budget preparation and consolidation of operating budget for the university, oversees the budget development process, forecasts tuition and various miscellaneous revenues, coordinates the tuition requests for the Board of Trustees, and oversees and executes ICR policy changes and distributions. Jamie also serves on campus-appointed committees.
Jean Hanks assists the Interim Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Designate, Lisa Monda-Amaya, and the Assistant Provost for Educational Innovation, Laura Hendley. Her responsibilities include calendar management and processing of information received via correspondence, reports, email, and telephone. She is the liaison for the Interim Vice Provost with units across campus, peer institutions, and external constituents.
Laura Hendley is the Assistant Provost for Educational Innovation and is involved in shaping campus strategy and providing campus-wide support for innovations in classroom and online education. She assists academic units with the development of new types of educational programs, especially online programs, guiding campus policies around online programs, and promoting the use of data-driven research and analytics to improve student learning outcomes.
Andrea Hoey is the Associate Provost for Budget and Financial Analysis. In this role, she assists the Vice Provost and Executive Associate Provost with administration of the annual budget process, strategic financial planning, and monitoring the financial health of the campus.
Kristi Kuntz is the Executive Associate Provost for Academic Programs and Policies and Executive Director of the Campus Center for Advising and Academic Services. She leads efforts to ensure the quality and relevance of academic programs and to provide support to students as they explore academic pathways and options.

As vice provost and the senior international officer, Reitumetse Obakeng Mabokela cultivates relationships with institutions around the world while bringing together the university’s vast on-campus international presence.
Dan Mann is the Associate Provost for Enrollment Management with responsibility for campus enrollment, undergraduate admissions, student financial aid, registration and records, enrollment management communications, data analysis and system services, and the Principal’s Scholars Program.
Jessica Maring assists in the day-to-day operations and implementation of policies and procedures for the business operations for Office of the Provost, Office of the Chancellor, and units that report to both administrative offices. She also provides secondary support for the Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning as well as the Executive Associate Provost for Budget and Resource Planning.
Anne Marshall is the Associate Director of Budget Operations and Analysis. She performs functions related to budget operations and maintenance for the University, reporting and analysis of the financial condition of campus units, and prepares tuition and miscellaneous revenue forecasts. Anne also serves on campus-appointed committees.
As the Associate Provost for Educational Programs and Success Initiatives, Kathy Martensen provides oversight and guidance for the program and course approval processes, including the General Education Board and academics within the campus’ Living-Learning Communities.
Anna Mehl is the Project Coordinator for Educational Innovation, assisting the Associate Provost for Educational Innovation with external partnerships related to online and innovative teaching and learning and the associated contracts and technologies. She collaborates with academic units to understand and represent their needs in these strategic partnerships.
Melissa Ong is a Major Awards Coordinator who facilitates the identification of major scholarly awards and recognitions to ensure successful faculty are appropriately recognized. She works in conjunction with the colleges of the campus, to nominate University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign faculty for these designations.
As Interim Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Designate, Lisa Monda-Amaya provides campus-wide leadership in the area of undergraduate education, including setting strategic directions for the undergraduate experience at Illinois, supporting innovation in classroom and in online instruction, and encouraging interdisciplinary initiatives in curriculum and pedagogy. Collaborating with colleges, schools, and other stakeholders, she works to ensure that the undergraduate experience at Illinois continues to be one of the best in the nation.
As a data analyst, Hanh Nguyen supports the effective use of campus financial resources by performing functions related to reporting and data analysis, and contributing to varieties of data projects on the financial and budget conditions of campus units.
In the position of the Associate Provost for Capital Planning, Paul Redman will be responsible for strategically planning, stewarding, and managing the physical resource needs of the campus, in collaboration with the academic and administrative units. Prior to joining the Office of the Provost, Mr. Redman gained more than thirteen years of resource management experience at the University of Illinois, most recently as Associate Dean for Administration in the College of Fine and Applied Arts, where he provided steady leadership.
Amanda Plotner assists the Executive Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, William Bernhard. Her responsibilities include scheduling and project management, the day-to-day handling of faculty appointment processes, and acting as the liaison for the Vice Provost with units across campus, peer institutions, and external constituents. She also provides support for the Promotion and Tenure process.
Staci Provezis is the Associate Provost for Academic Effectiveness, ensuring that academic programs meet and exceed all regulatory requirements and are able to innovate to meet changing opportunities and priorities. She oversees the campus-wide academic program review process, is involved in campus and unit strategic planning initiatives and the campus accreditation process, and leads the university's learning outcomes assessment work.
As the Associate Provost for Faculty Employee Relations, Sharon Reynolds provides support on a wide variety of academic matters, including issues related to policy development, shared governance, and administrative initiatives.
Staci Ryan serves as the primary support for the Associate Director for Special Projects and Events, Gennifer Gilbert, and provides overall event support to the Office of the Provost. Her responsibilities include calendar management, maintaining a comprehensive list of events coordinated by the Office of the Provost, and obtaining event information from university offices and outside vendors. Ms. Ryan serves as the liaison between the Office of the Provost special events team and university departments/vendors.
Rosa Milagros Santos
Rosa Milagros Santos is the Associate Provost for Faculty Development. In this role, she assists with processes and policies related to faculty development and success, including faculty mentoring, support for pre-tenure and mid-career faculty, career paths for specialized faculty, and leadership development. She also oversees the new faculty orientation, mid-career faculty programming, and the dual-career academic couples program.
Teresa Spence assists the Executive Associate Provost for Academic Programs and Policies, Kristi Kuntz, and Associate Provost for Educational Programs and Success Initiatives, Kathy Martensen. Her responsibilities include calendar and project management, as well as providing support for the Council of Undergraduate Deans, General Education Board, and Teaching Advancement Board.
Jonathan Swigart assists the Associate Provost for Academic Effectiveness, Staci Provezis. His responsibilities include scheduling and project management, as well as providing support for the Academic Program Review process.
Kate Techtow is a Coordinator of Assessment and Evaluation and is involved in the processes for the university's accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission.
