The 2026 Illinois Online Higher Education Symposium (IOHES) will be hosted virtually by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on Friday, November 6, 2026, under the leadership of the Office of Online Learning and the Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning. Stay tuned for more information about this free virtual event dedicated to those who learn, teach, design, support, or lead online education in Illinois.

The inaugural IOHES was hosted by the Southern Illinois University (SIU) Center for Teaching Excellence in fall 2024, which has successfully led the coordination of two free statewide virtual events. For historical context, you can review details about the 2025 symposium on SIU’s website.

We invite anyone involved in online education across the state to join the organizing committee and help shape the theme and program offerings for the 2026 symposium.
