Session Description

Advertising education is evolving rapidly as digital inclusivity, accessibility standards, and global regulations reshape expectations for future practitioners. As frameworks such as the ADA Web Accessibility Rule, Section 508, FTC truth-in-advertising requirements, platform transparency policies, and emerging AI regulations continue to expand, advertising educators face growing pressure to prepare students for a complex, accountability-driven environment. Yet many instructors lack ready-to-use tools and pedagogical models for integrating accessibility and regulatory literacy into creative coursework. This 90-minute interactive workshop introduces Create With Compliance, a multimodal instructional system designed to help educators embed accessibility, inclusivity, and regulatory thinking directly into advertising and digital media instruction. Rather than treating compliance as a constraint or add-on, this workshop demonstrates how it can function as a generative creative framework that enhances both student outcomes and ethical practice. Participants will engage in guided, hands-on activities using toolkit components, including a six-part advertising compliance framework (e.g., accessibility, data privacy), workbook templates and design-thinking exercises, scenario cards with real-world challenges, and a digital resource hub with a “compliance wheel” to support instructional planning and application.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze short creative scenarios to identify accessibility gaps, regulatory risks, and ethical considerations.
  • Apply structured prompts and checklists to revise or ideate compliant campaign elements in small-group activities.
  • Experiment with integrating compliance tools into existing assignments or courses.
  • Reflect on how accessibility and regulatory frameworks can be positioned as drivers of creativity rather than limitations.
