Requirements

  • Minimum GPA of 2.00 (Illinois and cumulative).
  • Completed introductory coursework in Rhetoric (RHET 105); Microeconomics (Econ 102) or Agricultural Consumer and Resource Economics (ACE 100); Sociology, (SOC 100 or one of the following alternate courses: AAS 100, AFRO 100, AIS 102, GEOG 101, GEOG 104, or LLS 100); and Statistics (UP 116 preferred, STAT 100 accepted) is required. If a GPA is 3.0+ the student may be recommended for transfer without some courses. Students who transfer as sophomores may also be given flexibility.
  • Brief application with personal statement (approximately 500 words) summarizing why you are interested in urban studies and planning.
  • The transfer application can found on the Urban Studies and Planning website.

Application Periods

  • Fall term: Applications accepted December 1 to March 15 for the upcoming fall.
  • Spring term: Applications accepted August 1 to October 15 for the upcoming spring.
  • Admissions decisions provided two weeks after application deadline.
