Charge Letter
Dear Colleagues,
Thank you for your willingness to serve on the Named Faculty Appointments Committee for 2025-26. Executive Vice Provost William Bernhard will serve as staff to the committee.
This committee is responsible for recommending nominations for campus-wide chairs, providing advice on policies governing such appointments, and reviewing proposed appointments to chairs and professorships held by the colleges. Because much of our future strength as a university depends upon the wisdom with which we award our named appointments, the work of this committee is vital. Provost’s Communication No. 6 outlines campus policy concerning named faculty appointments.
I would like to formally acknowledge that May Berenbaum, Kevin Hamilton, and Heidi Imker are serving in an ex officio capacity on this committee. May Berenbaum represents the Center for Advanced Study, Kevin Hamilton represents the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, and Heidi Imker represents the Campus Promotion and Tenure Committee. Their participation ensures that the perspectives of these important campus units are fully integrated into the committee’s deliberations.
