Charge Letter
Dear Colleagues,
Thank you for agreeing to serve on the Illinois Scholars at Risk (ISAR) Committee for AY 2025-26. By recommending policies, developing best practices, and advising campus administrators, the ISAR Committee supports the Office of the Provost’s efforts to support international scholars facing severe threats to their lives, freedoms, and well-being.
Professor Colleen Murphy has agreed to serve as the ISAR Committee’s chair this academic year. I am grateful for Professor Murphy’s continued service in this role.
The committee’s charge for AY 2025-26 is as follows:
- Support efforts to integrate the AY25-26 ISAR scholar cohort into campus and identify the next ISAR scholar cohort for AY26-27.
- Institutionalize the work of the ISAR Committee including the development of a framework for the transition of committee members and chair.
- In conversation with colleagues at Big Ten universities and beyond, identify challenges and opportunities for ISAR in light of immigration policy changes.
Thank you in advance for your service on this important committee.
Sincerely,
John Coleman
Provost
