Jane Baumgartner assists the Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning, Paul Ellinger, and Executive Associate Provost for Budget and Resource Planning, Vicky Gress. Her responsibilities include calendar management and processing of information received via correspondence, reports, email, and telephone. She serves as a liaison for both the Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning and the Executive Associate Provost for Budget and Resource Planning with academic and administrative units across campus. She also provides support for the Administrative Budget Committee, Budget Officers Council, and Campus Budget Reform Committee.
As Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, William Bernhard provides leadership in the areas of academic and faculty affairs. His portfolio includes faculty development, the Provost Fellows program, human resources, academic awards, and assessment.
Andreas C. Cangellaris is the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost and M.E. Van Valkenburg Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As the chief academic officer, Dr. Cangellaris oversees the campus’ academic programs, policies, and priorities, which are designed to ensure the quality of the educational experience for students and to sustain an environment that encourages and supports academic excellence through diversity, inclusion, and free inquiry, debate, and speech. In this role, he works closely with the chancellor, the other vice chancellors, the deans of academic colleges and other units, academic staff, the Senate of the Illinois campus, and various committees in setting overall academic priorities for the campus.
Assistant Provost and Director of the Division of Management Information (DMI) Amy Edwards leads the team that provides data and information that allows administrative leaders to make thoughtful and data-driven decisions. She is responsible for managing DMI with the goal of assisting campus administrators, faculty, and staff in obtaining timely, accurate, and appropriate information from the university's administrative databases.
Linell Edwards is a Coordinator of Assessment and Evaluation and is involved in the continuing efforts to build on the student learning outcomes assessment program.
Paul Ellinger is the Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning. He provides strategic budget planning and allocation advice to the Chancellor and the Provost, guidance to the university in areas related to budget, finance, planning and resource allocation, leadership and management of the campus budget office, and serves as campus chief financial officer.
Adam Fein is the Assistant Provost for Educational Innovation and is involved in shaping campus strategy and providing campus-wide support for innovations in classroom and online education. He assists academic units with the development of new types of educational programs, especially online programs, guiding campus policies around online programs, and promoting the use of data-driven research and analytics to improve student learning outcomes.
Jenny Gibson is the college-level budget contact for the offices of the Chancellor and the Provost, including smaller units that report up, within the Chancellor and Provost college organization structure. She also records and processes transfers in the Provost Commitment System, works with Facilities and Services on its quarterly billing, and manages the leasehold Banner organization code.
Gennifer Gilbert is the Special Projects and Events Coordinator. She manages the campus-level events hosted by the Office of the Provost and liaises with units across campus to ensure the success of these events. She is also responsible for a variety of special projects.
As the Major Awards Coordinator, Kim Green coordinates major national and international faculty award nominations on behalf of campus, serves as the campus-level resource for units in their efforts to nominate faculty for prestigious awards and honors, and is involved in various activities that help to recognize the achievements of Illinois faculty. She also manages the Provost’s Office website.
Vicky Gress is the Executive Associate Provost for Budget and Resource Planning. She provides budget planning and allocation budget advice to the Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning, and high-level leadership of the campus budget office, including oversight of daily functions and management of staff.
Professor Kevin Hamilton was appointed a Provost Fellow in August 2017. He joined the University of Illinois in 2002, after completing graduate study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2000. With a background in the fine arts, Kevin earned his BFA at the Rhode Island School of Design, and spent his first several years at Illinois teaching Painting and New Media in the School of Art and Design.
As CIO, Mark Henderson and his group provide the technological innovations, infrastructure, security, support and training to ensure that faculty, students and staff can focus on learning, discovery and engagement.
Andrea Hoey is the Assistant Provost and Director for Budget and Resource Planning. In this role, she assists the Vice Provost and Executive Associate Provost with administration of the annual budget process, strategic financial planning, and monitoring the financial health of the campus.
Mary Jones oversees the fiscal management of business operations for the Office of the Provost, Office of the Chancellor, and units that report to both administrative offices. She also assists the Executive Associate Provost for Budget and Resource Planning in business processes.
Debbie Kemphues directs the daily operations of the Office of the Provost, manages the support team, provides overall coordination of the Provost’s activities, and supports the Council of Deans. She also serves as the liaison to the Provost’s direct reports, units across campus, and external constituents.
Deb Kincaid assists the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, Kevin Pitts, and the Assistant Provost for Educational Innovation, Adam Fein. Her responsibilities include calendar management and processing of information received via correspondence, reports, email, and telephone. She is the liaison for both the Vice Provost and Assistant Provost with units across campus, peer institutions, and external constituents. She also provides support for the Grand Challenge Learning Initiative and serves as the secondary support for Teresa Harvey and Melinda Schaefer.
Kristi Kuntz is the Associate Provost for Academic Programs and Policies and Executive Director of the Campus Center for Advising and Academic Services. She leads efforts to ensure the quality and relevance of academic programs and to provide support to students as they explore academic pathways and options.
Reitumetse Obakeng Mabokela
As vice provost and the senior international officer, Reitumetse Obakeng Mabokela cultivates relationships with institutions around the world while bringing together the university’s vast on-campus international presence.
Dan Mann is the Interim Associate Provost for Enrollment Management with responsibility for campus enrollment, undergraduate admissions, student financial aid, registration and records, enrollment management communications, data analysis and system services, and the Principal’s Scholars Program.
Jessica Maring assists in the day-to-day operations and implementation of policies and procedures for the business operations for Office of the Provost, Office of the Chancellor, and units that report to both administrative offices. She also provides secondary support for the Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Budget and Resource Planning as well as the Executive Associate Provost for Budget and Resource Planning.
As the Assistant Provost for Educational Programs, Kathy Martensen provides oversight and guidance for the program and course approval processes, including the General Education Board and academics within the campus’ Living-Learning Communities.
Anna Mehl is the Project Coordinator for Educational Innovation, assisting the Associate Provost for Educational Innovation with external partnerships related to online and innovative teaching and learning and the associated contracts and technologies. She collaborates with academic units to understand and represent their needs in these strategic partnerships.
Lynette O’Neal is the Assistant Provost and Director of the Principal's Scholars Program (PSP), one of the largest single-institutional, pre-collegiate programs in the country. She works to prepare promising high school students for success at Illinois or wherever they choose to attend university.
Gina Oleynichak is an Associate Director of Budget Operations and Analysis. She is responsible for the tuition revenue projections, tuition rate requests, allocation of tuition, other various analyses for campus tuition income, as well as the reporting and analysis of the financial condition of campus units. Gina also assists with budget development management, campus-level budget preparation, a variety of financial condition and reporting analysis, and serves on campus-appointed committees.
Rachel Palmisano handles scheduling and coordinates travel for the Provost.
Alaina Pincus is the Visiting Project Manager for the Grand Challenge Learning Initiative. Her responsibilities include course and curriculum development, learning outcome and program assessment, and marketing. She also works on issues related to General Education and pedagogical innovation.
As Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, Kevin Pitts provides campus-wide leadership in the area of undergraduate education, including setting strategic directions for the undergraduate experience at Illinois, supporting innovation in classroom and in online instruction, and encouraging interdisciplinary initiatives in curriculum and pedagogy. Collaborating with colleges, schools, and other stakeholders, he works to ensure that the undergraduate experience at Illinois continues to be one of the best in the nation.
Amanda Plotner assists the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, William Bernhard. Her responsibilities include scheduling and project management, handling day-to-day faculty processes, as well as acting as the liaison for the Vice Provost with units across campus, peer institutions, and external constituents. She also provides support for the Promotion and Tenure process.
Staci Provezis is the Associate Provost for Academic Effectiveness, ensuring that academic programs meet and exceed all regulatory requirements and are able to innovate to meet changing opportunities and priorities. She oversees the campus-wide academic program review process, is involved in campus and unit strategic planning initiatives and the campus accreditation process, and leads the university's learning outcomes assessment work.
Rachel Rayburn assists the Associate Provost for Faculty Development, Amy Santos. Her responsibilities include calendar management and processing faculty requests such as Emeritus/Emerita status, tenure rollback, leaves of absence, and sabbatical applications.
As the Assistant Provost for Administrative Affairs, Sharon Reynolds provides support on a wide variety of academic matters, including issues related to policy development, shared governance, and administrative initiatives.
Suzanne Rinehart is the Assistant Provost and Director for Budget and Resource Planning. She assists with budget development management, campus-level budget preparation and the Budget Summary for Operations, allocation of tuition distribution, various financial condition and reporting analyses, income fund and tuition/fee projections and analysis, deficit monitoring and analysis, indirect cost recovery (ICR) reporting and analysis, campus fund reconciliations, budget transfer processing, and serves on campus-appointed committees. Suzanne holds a B. S. in Accounting and an M.Ed. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Rosa Milagros Santos
Rosa Milagros Santos is the Associate Provost for Faculty Development. In this role, she assists with processes and policies related to faculty development and success, including faculty mentoring, support for pre-tenure and mid-career faculty, career paths for specialized faculty, and leadership development. She also oversees the new faculty orientation, mid-career faculty programming, and the dual-career academic couples program.
Melinda Schaefer assists the Associate Provost for Academic Programs and Policies, Kristi Kuntz, and the Assistant Provost for Educational Programs, Kathy Martensen. Her responsibilities include calendar management and processing of information received via correspondence, reports, email, and telephone. She also provides support to the Council of Undergraduate Deans, General Education Board, Teaching Advancement Board, and CourseLeaf.
Jonathan Swigart assists the Associate Provost for Academic Effectiveness, Staci Provezis. His responsibilities include scheduling and project management, as well as providing support for the Academic Program Review process.
Kate Techtow is a Coordinator of Assessment and Evaluation and is involved in the processes for the university's accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission.
Matthew Tomaszewski develops capital priorities and leads planning efforts to ensure that units have the facilities to support their mission-critical activities.
Janet Wick is a Resource and Policy Coordinator. She assists in the preparation, maintenance, and administration of the campus operating budget; processes budget transfers for the Urbana campus, along with exchanges of funds between the other campuses and the University Systems Office; and assists with reviewing, reconciling, and distributing various reports. She is also involved in a variety of data projects.
Lesa Wilcoxon assists the Associate Provost for Capital Planning, Matthew Tomaszewski, and other senior staff members. She also serves as the front desk assistant for the Provost's Budget and Resource Planning office.
Provost Fellow and Professor of Physics
Professor Scott Willenbrock was appointed a Provost's Fellow in August 2016. He joined the Department of Physics as a faculty member in 1993. He worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Wisconsin, Madison from 1986 until 1988, and as a physicist at Brookhaven National Laboratory from 1988 until 1993. While at Brookhaven, he also worked as a guest scientist at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.
Matthew Wolfersberger is a Budget and Financial Analysis Coordinator. He is responsible for the management and execution of a wide variety of operational tasks and analysis of the campus’ budget which contribute to successful financial oversight.
