Diversity

One of the great challenges facing colleges and universities today is to create and sustain campus environments that reflect the diversity of our nation. At Illinois, we are committed to the principle that a diverse community adds to and enhances our educational environment. As such, Illinois has formalized a broad range of activities intended to create an inclusive environment related to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexuality, disability, economic class, religion, and country of origin. These activities are incorporated in every aspect of university life from student affairs, to academic units, to research activities, and to public engagement. Illinois is determined to achieve the next level of excellence in education, scholarship, and public engagement by fostering and sustaining a diverse and inclusive academic environment.
