First-Year Discovery Program

Established in 1994, the Discovery Program helps Illinois students enhance their education through greater interaction with faculty in small classes. The interactive courses also enable faculty to share their research in a particular area with students. It is intended for first-year students only.

Discovery sections cover a wide range of disciplines and enrollment is limited to a maximum of nineteen students per section. Some Discovery courses can be used to satisfy General Education requirements or requirements in a major, while others are electives. Check with your adviser to find out if a Discovery course satisfies a requirement for you.
