Faculty Women of Color in the Academy National Conference
The Faculty Women of Color in the Academy National Conference (FWCA) offers women of color who are faculty, university administrators, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduate students a unique educational and professional opportunity to network, engage, and learn with peers from around the country. The two-day conference features prominent women of color scholars as keynote speakers, panelists, performers, and workshop facilitators. This conference is typically held annually in April in Virginia Tech University’s campus in Blacksburg, VA.
The Office of the Provost provides limited funding assistance for up to six eligible faculty per year for full-time, Tenure-stream and Specialized Faculty to attend this annual conference. This funding covers the registration cost for the conference, plus up to $300 per participant to be applied towards actual travel expenses (e.g., airfare, mileage, hotel, etc.). Faculty will be required to pay for the difference of remaining travel costs associated with the conference, such as with matching funds from the faculty member’s home department, college, or other sources.
