With the increased focus on budget concerns on the University of Illinois campus, it has become more important to stress efficiencies in all areas. To address this concern, the Office of the Provost is introducing the Efficiency Fair. The goal is to have members of the campus community come and demonstrate ways they have improved their business processes. This is a great opportunity to learn from others and to share best practices to solve existing business issues.

Areas that will be addressed include: IT consolidation, budget examinations, revenue enhancement, shared service centers, and administrative restructuring.

If you have come up with a way to increase efficiency or cut costs in your business unit, now is your chance to show off your accomplishments! We have multiple ways for you to highlight your information: a poster board display, interactive presentation in a classroom, or a combination of the two. The Efficiency Fair will allow the Illinois campus to come together and share process-related efficiency strategies and techniques with others.

Even if you have not played a role in creating efficiencies, you are still encouraged to come and see what other colleges and units have done. Hopefully, you will be able to adapt some of the measures from the fair into your unit’s operations.

The first Efficiency Fair will be held on May 23, 2011, from 1:00-5:00pm in the Illini Union. We expect this to become an annual event that members of the campus community are excited to attend and participate in.
