General Requirements:

  • Policies and Procedures for Intercollegiate Transfer
  • On-line Application, which includes a personal essay of up to 500 words.
  • Submit the confirmation page of the on-line application. You will be instructed to print and submit this page to 18 Gregory Hall by the date and time give on the application.
  • Print a copy of your Academic History and submit this along with the confirmation page listed above.
  • It is recommended that you attend one of our pre-application ICT workshops. Dates, times, and rooms can be found here: http://www.media.illinois.edu/future/applying.html.

Advertising Requirements:

  • Required pre-requisites for transfer:
    • Attendance at an ICT workshop preferred
    • Completion of ADV 150 with at least a “B” or better OR current enrollment in ADV 150 at the time of application (please note that an admission decision will not be made until the completion of ADV 150)
    • Completion of STAT 100 (or an equivalent course) with at least a “B” or better OR current enrollment in STAT 100 at the time of application (please note that an admission decision will not be made until the completion of STAT 100)
    • A 3.0 minimum GPA preferred
    • Demonstrated passion, knowledge and experience in the area of Advertising
  • It is also recommended that students be enrolled in or have completed ECON 102/103, PSYC 100/SOC 100/ANTH 103 when applying for the Advertising major.

Computer Science + Advertising Requirements:

  • Required pre-requisites for transfer:
    • Attendance at an ICT workshop preferred
    • A 3.5 minimum GPA
    • Completion of ADV 150 with a “B” or better OR current enrollment in ADV 150 at the time of application
    • Completion of MATH 220/221 (or equivalent course) with a “B” or better OR current enrollment in MATH 220/221 at the time of application
    • Completion of the following Computer Sciences courses with a “B+” or better OR current enrollment at the time of application:
      • CS 125
      • CS 173
      • CS 225
    • Please note that an admission decision will NOT be made until the completion of all courses listed above: ADV 150, MATH 220/221, CS 125, CS 173, and CS 225
    • Demonstrated passion, knowledge and experience in the area of Computer Science and/or Advertising
    • It is also recommended that students be enrolled in or have completed ECON 102/103, PSYC 100 or SOC 100 when applying for the Computer Science + Advertising major
    • Due to the sequential nature of this major, students should be applying no later than the 2nd semester of sophomore year

Journalism Requirements:

  • Required pre-requisites for transfer:
    • Attendance at an ICT workshop preferred
    • Completion of Comp 1 with at least a “B” or better or concurrent enrollment in a Comp 1 course
    • Completion of JOUR 200 or current enrollment in JOUR 200 at the time of application
    • Demonstrated passion, knowledge and experience in the area of Journalism
    • It is also recommended that students have completed or be enrolled in ECON 102/103, STAT 100, PSYC 100, SOC 100, CS 105 when applying for the Journalism major

MACS requirements:

  • Recommended pre-requisites for transfer:
    • Attendance at an ICT workshop preferred
    • Completion of Comp 1
    • Completion of or current enrollment in MACS 100, 101, 104, 166 at the time of application
    • Demonstrated passion, knowledge and experience in the area of Media and Cinema Studies

Application Periods:

Application periods begins the first week of each Fall and Spring semester through the 4th week of those semesters. A second, shorter application cycle is available each Spring semester in April with applications generally due on Reading Day of that term.. Check application dates at https://media.illinois.edu/how-apply/ICT. All information requested is due by 3:00 p.m. on the deadline day. There is no summer application period.

Advising:

All students will be notified of their admission by the deadline listed on the application. Those students accepted will be contacted by their newly assigned College of Media academic advisor the week following their acceptance to schedule a pre-registration advising appointment.
