Leadership & Key Roles

The extent to which the Provost, deans, faculty members, staff, and students are involved in the process are defined below.

Program

The program being reviewed will participate in the following ways:

  • Work with the College to identify the names of external reviewers
  • Secure date for the external reviewers to visit campus
  • Prepare a self study of the unit according to the guidelines set forth by the Provost’s Office
  • Provide the Provost’s office an electronic copy of the self study three weeks prior to the dates set for the external review
  • Host external reviewers
  • Work with the College to write a response to the external review that outlines specific actions that will be taken in light of the observations and recommendations
  • Implement follow-up actions
  • Prepare a follow-up report in the next year’s annual review
  • Complete the end-of-cycle report after four years of annual updates

College

Colleges will take an active role in the evaluation in the following ways:

  • Organize and approve annual updates
  • Identify departments that need reviewed outside of typical review cycle
  • Identify key areas of focus for the review, with the Review Council and Provost’s Office
  • Work with the Program to identify the names of external reviewers
  • Review self-study
  • Send materials to the external reviewers
  • Coordinate review with the department
  • Approve the program’s response to the external review that outlines specific actions that will be taken in light of the observations and recommendations
  • Consult with the Provost’s Office to discuss next steps

Provost’s Office

Program Review is a directive of the Provost’s Office. It plays a central role in the following ways:

  • Provides oversight of the process
  • Coordinates activities
  • Facilitates the process
  • Visits with the external review team
  • Receives the final report from the College
  • Allots funding for the external review

Division of Management Information

The Division of Management Information will provide data for the program undergoing review. This information will be provided prior to the start of the semester of the review. Established criteria must be included, but the program may ask for additional information as it sees fit.
